Відповідно, у британській спільноті і сьогодні домінує позитивно-ощадливе відношення до власності. При цьому безмежна (нерозсудлива, марнотратна) щедрість лімітується певними розсудливими межами (тяжіння до норми), а скупість засуджується як дуже ганебне явище. Актуалізація в англомовному світі наприкінці ХХ століття позитивної сутності жадібності (Greed is good!) є, на наше переконання, лише короткотривалим впливом близькоспорідненої, але більш відкритої американської лінгвокультури, який майже не змінив уявлення британців про скупість як виключно негативне явище.
